Michael Little is a well-known advocate across the country for Military Suicide Awareness and Veteran Treatment within the Veterans Affairs Administration.
He served in the United States Navy for over 14 years as an Aviation Boatswain’s Mate Handler, serving aboard the USS Ronald Reagan (CVN 76) and USS Tarawa (LHA 1). His military decorations include: Army Commendation Medal, Navy Achievement Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Navy Sea Service Deployment with 1 Bronze Star, Navy Overseas Service Ribbon with 2 Bronze Stars, Armed Forces Reserve Medal with “M” and “2” Devices, and NATO ISAF Medal, just to name a few. Petty Officer Little is also Air and Surface Warfare Qualified.
He served two tours of duty in Iraq and Afghanistan as a Detention Operations Officer back to back while in the Reserves, serving under the command of the Army’s 303rd MP Battalion in Iraq, and 16th MP (Airborne) Battalion in Afghanistan, and is designated to wear the Airborne Tab, and multiple Army Combat Patches.
Michael is a member of numerous Veteran Service Organizations, Michael enjoys spending time with his wife Elizabeth, who is an Active Duty Hospital Corpsman in the US Coast Guard and volunteering with his local Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla.
Little is a McLeansboro, Illinois native, who currently resides in the Washington D.C. Beltway and has recently worked as the Veterans Legislation Analyst & Liaison for New York State Senator Mark Grisanti, where he helped the Senator support Veterans of the 60th district located in Buffalo, and was awarded the prestigious New York State Senate Liberty Award.
